58^th AGM 2018

Thursday, 11^th Oct 2018 till Monday, 15^th Oct 2018 inclusive

The RNARS (Royal Naval Amateur Radio Society) held their usual yearly activity on board HMS Collingwood. For this special occasion members travelled from many countries to be heard all across the bands worldwide with the call sign "GB3RN". This is the amateur radio station which is situated inside the RN HQ (RNARS headquarter), the shack on board the HMS Collingwood.

On Thursday, Oct 11^th 2018 we flew from Hamburg to London, going on by train to Portsmouth.

In the afternoon we were catched by Doug. We had a short meeting with Lou and Doug at his home.

Afterwards we went back to our hotel, we finished the day of arrival after dinner.

Friday, Oct 12^th 2018, was marked by visiting the Isle of Wight. Here were some impressions of the crossing and the island to the western part.
Due to blowing winds the Hovercraft was not able to sail. So we used the Catamaran.
But see by yourself how beautiful it was there.

After the city tour we took the bus "Needles Breezer" to the west part of the island. Our destination would be the Needles at Alum Bay.

Saturday, Oct 13^th 2018, Maren had a surprise for her OM.
It was Hans's birthday today, so a little greeting had been prepared for him.

Some members of the RNARS arrived as usual on Saturday, Oct 13^th 2018, before the AGM. We had a lot to talk about since our last meeting and soon formed into little groups for some chit chat. We also met for our welcome drinks.
