The RNARS London HMS "Belfast" Group met in Hamburg for the world's biggest regular port festival, the 818th Birthday of the Port of Hamburg.

 

3rd day: Saturday 12 May 2007

STS "MIR", boat tour, LV13

After breakfast, Saturday was marked by a visit to the Russian sail training ship "MIR", a 110-metre three-mast full rigged ship.

Having had a little refreshment, we set out to the Landungsbrücken for the special experience of a big sightseeing tour around the harbour on an open launch.

In the evening we met for dinner in common on board the English lightship "LV13" - close to the overseas bridge - again, a very special marine atmosphere worth seeing.

The day ended with a spectacular highlight: the brilliant fireworks in the air. Somewhat exhausted we returned to our accommodations - on public transportation, of course.
