Port Birthday Hamburg 2007

The RNARS London HMS "Belfast" Group met in Hamburg for the world's biggest regular port festival, the 818^th Birthday of the Port of Hamburg.

STS "PASSAT", Lübeck, "Schiffergesellschaft", "Niederegger", hotel

Today, on Tuesday, we went by cars of our own for a day’s trip to Travemünde and Lübeck.
The first part of the day was spent at Travemünde for a visit to the STS "PASSAT".

The second part of the day led us to Lübeck.

From the historic Holsten Gate we moved on directly to the historical "Schiffergesellschaft", (House of the Seafarer's Guild) of 1535. Initially filled with amazement about the extraordinary furnishings inside the house, we then quickly indulged in food and drinks for our physical comfort.

In close vicinity to the "Schiffergesellschaft" we came together to see the sailors‘ church of St. Jacob whose North chapel contained a memorial: lifeboat No.2 of the four-mast tall ship "PAMIR" which sank in 1957.

Already there, on our way back we walked across the historic citycentre with its remarkable town hall and the market square in front.
Of course, we could not miss visiting the most famous producer of marcipan "Niederegger" including testing and buying.
