HMS "Queen Elizabeth" visited Hamburg in 2024

The British aircraft carrier HMS “Queen Elizabeth” visited Hamburg for the first time from November 18 to 22, 2024.
It is currently the Royal Navy's largest aircraft carrier. The visit took place as part of a NATO exercise and it moored at the cruise terminal.

Our Martin, vice Chairman of the RNARS, was also on board. The 1st chairman Ian MØLIH was also in Hamburg. They had arranged with Maren DK9MOS to see a bit of Hamburg together. The first thing they wanted to do was to visit the Cap San Diego. Maren met the two of them together with Ian's girlfriend Vic (Victoria) at the Überseebrücke and then went on board together. First they visited the DLØMFH radio station, which is both an MF and an RNARS club station (MF900/RN4772). Ian MØLIH, RNARS chairman, and Martin MØEHL, vice chairman, demonstrated their Morse code skills and received their personal Morse code diplomas from the CSD. This was followed by a visit to the engine room and an on-board exhibition. At the end of the day, the group had coffee together in the "Heimathafen" restaurant. Afterwards we said our goodbyes with best wishes for the future in Hamburg and a successful service on board the HMS QE. Maren said goodbye to our English friends until the next meeting on the bands or at the AGM.
