The RNARS London HMS "Belfast" Group met in Hamburg for the world's biggest regular
port festival, the 818th Birthday of the Port of Hamburg.
2nd day: Friday 11 May 2007
U-434, Arrival Parade, "Gröninger"
On Friday we spent a visit to the 1976 built Russian submarine "U-434"
of the Tango class, the world’s largest non-nuclear submarine, in the
Hamburg submarine museum.

Our visiting of submarines was a consumptive business, so it was high
time to refresh our strength.

Arrival Parade for the 818th Port Birthday Hamburg
This Port Birthday Hamburg is the biggest regular port festival in the world.
All they came to join in the Arrival Parade:
Three tall ships (SEDOV, MIR and KRUZENSHTERN), museum freighter CAP SAN DIEGO,
naval crafts, ships/boats of the THW (agency for technical relief), fire department,
Hamburg Port Police, coast guard, fishery guard, traditional and museum ships, as well as
pleasure boats.

When the great Arrival Parade was over, we met at Hamburg’s oldest brewery
of 1750 to have dinner together.

Dining in cosy atmosphere with fine entertainment
After the "strains" of this day, we enjoyed a while of rest looking forward
to the events of the next day to come.
