International Museum Ships Weekend

IMWE 2018 in Laboe

Starting at Thursday, 30/06/2018, it was the arrival of our group. Harald DL5XI arrived the day before. At noon we went to Kiel to pick up our foreign guests at the central station (Hbf).

In the evening we could join our first beer and officially started this year's meeting in comfortable atmosphere at the Admiral Scheer.

Today at Friday, 01/06/2018, it was the official set-up day. In bright sunshine we all used to get more fun. Our first function test turned out successful and made us hope for fine contacts.
The new antenna on deck did well.

Today at Saturday, 02/06/2018, the first day of the IMWE, we started at 0900LT on the dot. Unfortunately our radio times were limited due to the opening hours of the museum from 0900 to 1900 LT.

Ship’s representative this year was Roberto D’Imperio (N4XAT) who joined the “U995 Friendship Crew” at Laboe for amateur radio from the original Radio room of the submarine U995. Bob is a member of the battleship USS New Jersey, the organizer of the annual IMWE.

Bright sunshine will be best for excellent photographs. We were dressed in fine clothes ready for the official snapshots of the press.

Today at Sunday, 03/06/2018, will be the second and last day of our activity. We should have many national and also international visitors here too.

The second, final part of the radio event is announced.

Today at Tuesday, 05/06/2018, unfortunately, it was our travel day.

Our foreign friends traveling back
by ferry to Kiel, by train to Hamburg and then flying back to England and America.

Our happy time with friends passed far too quickly. A sincere thanks to our crew members who made it possible again for us all to have an unforgettable time.
