International Museum Ships Weekend


IMWE 2019 in Laboe

Starting at Thursday, 30/05/2019, it was the arrival of our group. We arrived in the morning, our Harald DL5XI as well as Kathy and Bob N4XAT were already on site. At noon we went to Kiel to pick up our foreign guests at the central station (Hbf). Hans-Jürgen stayed on site to welcome our Dutch guests.

Now it got a little festive. Harald distributed a U995 cup as a souvenir, Bob N4XAT had brought many gifts from the USS New Jersey, which we received under swinging flags. Many thanks to both of you.

Today at Friday, 01/06/2018, it was the official set-up day.
In bright sunshine we all used to get more fun. Our first function test turned out successful and made us hope for fine contacts. The new antenna on deck did well.
Our Bob was a new member of DMB.

Today at Saturday, 0/06/2019, the first day of the IMWE, we started at 0900LT on the dot. Unfortunately our radio times were limited due to the opening hours of the museum from 0900 to 1900 LT.

Start of radio activity.
Ship’s representative this year was Roberto D’Imperio (N4XAT) who joined the “U995 Friendship Crew” at Laboe for amateur radio from the original Radio room of the submarine U995. Bob is a member of the battleship USS New Jersey, the organizer of the annual IMWE.
